The group started in 1995 with the name Il Regno dei Cocci, which had, among others, DJ ZacOne and MC Il Doppio. They were later joined by DJs Emme and Driza, and the groups was eventually transformed into Il Regno.

In 1997, they issued the single "L'Amaro In Bocca" and "Phobiae" on the CD compilation "Epicentro Romano. The following year, Il Regnoissued a demo tape entitled Tra le mura della stanza d'oro that featured Target (of Loggia Nera) from Bolzano and Mr. Coccia and Sheke (of Voci Dal Basso) from Formello, and the vocal support of singer Morgana.

In 1999, Il Regno contributed the song "Vincere e Perdere" to the compilation ...E' solo l'inizio, which inclued Piotta, A.T.P.C., and others.
