Review
by Stefano Volpato

Finally, something is happening in the Italian music scene! We have been listening and re-listening with true admiration to this debut album by this wonderful DJ (isn't this word used just a bit too narrowly?) who is deeply knowledgeable and passionate about soul, hip hop, and black music.

Irene has grabbed the public's attention as an excellent interpreter of hip hop pieces but also of sensual and refined songs. The songs on this CD are interpreted with a refinement, lightness, and articulation, thanks in part to the great work of "friends" and "collaborators": Steve Dub, Stefano Fontana, Roberto Baldi (production and programming), Neffa, as well as many other voices.

This a new musical experience coming from "our house" in Italy — an "open" and "free" recording that will (hopefully) spread the news finally to the world about a new language for Italian music.

The record is very "contaminated" and influenced by outside sources, which can't be any other way for a DJ. It's clear that Irene (and her friends) are creating their own style and sound that will help her to become queen of Italian soul and maybe prepare the groundwork for new Italian groups in the future.

We'll keep an eye out for Irene and wait for her next work — the way has been paved.
