Review
by Stefano Volpato

Soulista is Irene's lastest CD, produced with a lot of flavor by Steve Lucarelli, Roby Baldi and Irene, who also wrote all the lyrics. It is a refined and mature CD that emerges out of a sung Hip Hop and a "total" R&B interpretation. The Milanese singer's passion for "black music" is found all the album's songs, that resonates with classic tunes by the great soul singers of the past like Steve Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

As in her first CD, many of Irene's friends participate: Saturnino, Donjoevanni, Tormento of Sottotono, Camilla, Jasmine, Chief, and Carmen Consoli in a beautiful version of "7 giorni su 7." The CD's producer is Massimo Oldani, one of Italy's most important promoters of soul music.

The end result is a CD that is smooth and enticing, just like Irene's voice, who has put her all into this recording. In addition to the hit single "7 giorni su 7," there are also "Quando Lei Non c'e," which was a smash at the 1999 San Remo festival, and "Soulista," the album's title track.

But you need to check out the entire CD, which each tune a new surprise. Congratulations are in order!
