BIO

Sa Razza was formed in 1990 and was the first rap group on the island of Sardinia. They are knwon for the use of Sardinian in their lyrics.

They made their first recording, a 12" for the Century Vox label with the songs "In saia" and "Casita in fundu" which in turn were re-released on the popular compilation Fondamentale Vol. 1. As a result of the songs popularity, the group toured Italy and were the opening act for the Beastie Boys' 1993 Unità Festival in Reggio Emilia.

Quilo, the group's leader moved to Torino, and along with Trizta (Tristano Ferrero), founded the UndaFunk label. Sa Razza joined the newly created label and released a 12" entitled "Vero Sardo G" that spoke about the Sardinian King of Supramonte Graziano Mesina. A second 12" entitled "Nudo e crudo" with Rawl MC soon followed. The group's first 1996 full-length Wessisla sold 10,000 copies nation-wide.

Quilo returned to Sardinia and soon created the Rhyme Racket label, releasing the group's mini-CD La Fossa. At the end 1998, the group's tune "Si può fare di meglio" was featured on the compilation Sampla '98. In the spring of 2001, the group will release hommage to the Cagliari soccer team, "Cagliari goool!".

Quilo and Ruido were joined by Indio (aka Silvio Caddeo), Raio (aka Luca Nicosia from Iglesias), and DJ Nike (aka Nicola Spiga from the city of Cagliari).

Sa Razza have been working on a project with youth offenders in the juvenile detention center at Quartucciu.
