Phase II — the sources
tomie depoala had some great images of italian hilltowns in his children's book Jingle the Christmas Clown, which i decided to use as a source. i couldn't help but notice that depoala based his image on the town of Postignano (Piacenza province, Emilia-Romagna) from the cover of photographer's norman carver's beautiful book Italian Hilltowns, which i also used. i then added the church S. Giovanni Battista from my dad's hometown Carunchio (Chieti province, Abruzzo).
