Detail I — the devil in the watch tower
picked this guy up on via san gregorio armeno in naples this past summer with simona frasca and francesco pepe of holland in preparation of christmas. i was looking for statuettes of bush and osama bin laden — the presepio figure craftspeople are famous for making political images — but to no avail. they would have fit well with virgil's remark to dante in the inferno's final canto: "Vexilla regis prodeunt inferni."
